Electronics Alive 8: Where Art and Technology Collide in Tampa

electronics_alive_8

A perfect storm of computer animation, digital video and interactive works from all around the world is brewing up for those in Tampa who consider themselves digital arts enthusiasts.

The Electronics Alive 8 exhibition runs from January 27-March 6th at the Scarfone / Hartley Gallery, and is presented by the University of Tampa. The exhibition not only covers a series of galleries by various digital artists from around the world, but also features talks and lectures by influential artists and scholars. On February 12th, there will be a special presentation at the Hillsborough Community College Performing Arts Building in Ybor where they will be playing Lune et le Loup, a special animation from France (see the wicked teaser below). Culture Vultures met with the biennial exhibition’s creators, Santiago Escheverry (University of Tampa) and Dorothy Cowden (HCC) to talk about the industry and how it is changing lives. The entire exhibition is free or charge, and open to everyone. For more information visit their website.
